SALT LAKE CITY, UT [December 21, 2023] Total Joint Orthopedics, Inc. (TJO), a leading innovator in the field of orthopedic medical devices, proudly announces the first surgery utilizing its Klassic Knee System with THINK Surgical’s TMINI Miniature Robotic System, the first miniature handheld wireless robot for total knee arthroplasty.
The first case was performed by Jonathan Peterson, MD of the Hofmann Arthritis Institute, at Holy Cross Hospital–Salt Lake City on December 5th.
“The first case with the THINK Surgical TMINI robot was a success! The robot adapted well into my normal workflow, and was efficient, and the handheld form factor made it easy for the whole OR team to do their jobs as normal. Being able to implant TJO’s advanced titanium implant with just one tray for the instruments and one tray for the robot makes it a great tool and I’m excited to use this technology to help make sure my patients have a great outcome from their knee replacement,” said Dr. Peterson.
TJO has partnered with THINK Surgical since 2015 and THINK Surgical received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for the use of the TMINI system with the Klassic Knee in October of this year. This surgery is a milestone for TJO, denoting its entrance into the robotic space. “The TMINI System and Klassic ONE instrumentation offer outstanding robotic efficiency for any surgical setting.
